Murphy will deliver a coronavirus briefing at 1 p.m. in Trenton. Click here to watch the livestream.Application Open for NJEDA Small Businesses Grants: The NJEDA has launched the application for its Small Business Emergency Assistance Grant Program. Apply here. A PDF detailing the program and application process is available here. ** Applications are open now and will close April 10, 2020, at 9 a.m. Completed applications will be considered on a first come, first serve rolling basis. **State Tax Filing Deadline Extended: The tax filing deadline for individual income taxes and corporate business taxes will be moved from April 15th to July 15th.Testing Sites: FEMA will extend support for the state’s partnered drive-through testing sites through the end of May. Find a testing location near you.Executive Order 115: Gov. Murphy signed an executive order allowing retirees to return to State and local government employment without impacting their pensions and removing restrictions on law enforcement’s ability to temporarily supplement their ranks.Comfort for NJ: The USNS Comfort, a 1,000 bed Navy hospital ship currently docked in Manhattan, will begin accepting New Jersey patients.Volunteers: The State continues to look for qualified health, mental health, and related professionals to bolster our medical ranks. (PDF from the NJDOL)COVID-19 Scenarios & Benefits Available (PDF from NJDOL)Update on $600 Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation from the NJDOL:If you are currently collecting unemployment: We fully intend to begin issuing the additional compensation the end of the week of April 5. It will be a separate payment from your regular unemployment benefit, and will continue through July 31.New filers: You also will be eligible for the additional $600/week; it will be retroactive to the week of March 29.Freelancers, gig workers, independent contractors: While we wait for federal guidelines, we encourage you to apply for unemployment now. Your claim likely will be denied, but your ineligibility for regular unemployment is a prerequisite for receiving benefits due to COVID-19. Additional details will be posted online as they become available.We are also awaiting guidance on the 13-week extension of unemployment benefits.
