Wreaths Across America in Galloway & Absecon

What began in 1992 with a trailer load of wreaths, decorated by volunteers and laid at the graves of fallen soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery, has now become a national organization with over 900 participating locations. The Wreaths Across America mission is “Remember, Honor, and Teach”. The wreaths across America events coordinated by the Absecon VFW Post 9462 included two wreath-laying ceremonies on Saturday December 12, 2015 in Absecon. This is one of the ways to spread the message about the importance of remembering our fallen heroes, honoring those who serve, and teaching our children about the sacrifices made by veterans and their families to preserve our freedoms. Absecon Mayor John Armstrong, The VFW Honor Guard, Rolling Thunder NJ Chapter and veterans’ families, attended a short ceremony at two locations led by the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Wreaths were laid, prayers given, taps played and the gun salute was carried out in honor of the fallen veterans.
