The 2013 Smithville Village Octoberfest was a big success with tens of thousands attending. There were over a hundred crafters, food vendors, bouncy houses for the kids, face painting, live music and plenty of sunshine.
Tony Coppola, Galloway Deputy Mayor and General Manager of the village, said the weather over the weekend was the best that it had been in 13 years. As big as the parking areas are, many people still had to park blocks away and walk to the village.
Many of the candidates up for election in November were at the festival to meet people and answer questions. Gilda’s Club handled the parking lot organization and as always, Fran Coppola, owner of the Village Sweet Shoppe, made hundreds of chocolate covered strawberries each day.
