Roland Rogers has hosted the St. Baldrick’s event for the fifth straight year! Shavee’s, students, and staff raised money to help conquer kids’ cancer! The St. Baldrick’s Foundation is a volunteer-driven charity that funds more in childhood cancer research grants than any organization except the U.S. government. Getting involved gives hope to infants, children, teens and young adults fighting childhood cancers. Last year alone, the St. Baldrick’s Foundation collects over $38 million worldwide! Roland Rogers goal this year was $12,000. They shattered that goal by raising $15,256.11 what an accomplishment.
How did they reach such a great amount? Donations were accepted in the children’s classrooms. For every $5 a student donated, they had a “Lucky Charm” placed in the hallway with their name on it. A random drawing held during the event awarded parties to those winning students’ homerooms.
A huge amount of praise is due to the teachers and students who shaved their heads for such a great cause. “Bald is Beautiful”!
