The Police Unity Tour stopped in Galloway to add more riders on its journey to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC. The primary purpose of the Police Unity Tour is to raise awareness of Law Enforcement Officers who have died in the line of duty.
The secondary purpose is to raise funds for the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial and Museum.
Prior to departing from the Galloway Police Department, a ceremony was held in front of the police station. Galloway PD spokesman Gary Brenner told the crowd why the event was so important. Young Galloway resident Gabriella Barber presented a check to Gary Brenner.
Additional speakers included Donna Higbee, Galloway’s Chief of Police, and agent from the FBI as well as family members of fallen officers.
Anyone watching was moved by the emotion and commitment of the participants. Hundreds of bicyclists which were mostly police officers filed out on to Jimmy Leeds Road for their long journey to DC in honor of their fallen brother and sister law enforcement officers.
They were led by motorcycle cops from all over the country and a number of police cars.
