The Absegami High School Drama Club, The Emanon Players, will be presenting the hilarious comedy Monty Python’s SPAMALOT on Friday & Saturday, March 11th & 12th at 6:30 PM and on Sunday, March 13th at 3:00 PM at the Absegami High School Performing Arts Center in Galloway Township.

Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL, SPAMALOT spoofs the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, and features a bevy of beautiful show girls, not to mention cows, killer rabbits, Knights Who Say “Ni”, and French people. The 2005 Broadway production won three Tony Awards, including “Best Musical,” and received 14 Tony Award nominations. The show features classic songs such as “Always Look on the Bright Side of Life,” “The Knights of the Round Table,” “The Song That Goes Like This,” “You Won’t Succeed on Broadway,” “His Name is Lancelot” and “Find Your Grail.”

Leading the cast are senior Saverio Turrano as King Arthur, Natalie Frantz as the Lady of the Lake, Michael Moore as Sir Robin, Zach Hassel as Sir Lancelot, Abby Cohen as Patsy and sophomore Spencer Lyons as Sir Galahad.

“I like this musical because it’s a comedy,” says Abby Cohen. “The past few shows, Les Miserables, Sweeney Todd and West Side Story during the summer, were darker and more dramatic.”
Agreeing with her is Michael Moore. “I’m into Spamalot because it’s not as emotionally taxing on the actors and the audience – it’s a brand of humor that doesn’t take a lot to understand.”
Natalie Frantz added “I like Spamalot because it’s just as fun to be a part of it as it is to be in the audience watching it.”

The production is under the direction of Absegami High School drama teacher Chip Garrison, with musical direction by Galloway Township Middle School teacher Brian Conover and choreography by Absegami school psychologist Katie Taylor. The set design and lighting design are by Absegami alumnus Tim Simon and costume design is by Absegami alumnus Ashley Winkler.

“The kids have been working so hard on the show,” says Absegami drama teacher Chip Garrison. “Especially this group of seniors, who are so talented when it comes to comedy. While I grew up on the comedy of Monty Python, a lot of these kids had never heard of it. But they’ve really embraced the silliness and absurdity of the comedy.”

Other cast members include Coby Alavez, Brandi Aldredge, Rachel Cohen, Cierra Davis, Emily Deibert, Claire Dell-Priscolli, Michelle Delemarre, Brianna Gargione, Stephen Gargione, Sarah Heintz, Rebecca Hennessy, Daniel Hershman, Caleb Holt, Courtney Jones, Johnny Keen, Kathleen Koschorreck, Victoria Kreutzer, Sarah LePine, John Lopez, Morgan Lyons, Rick Mangold, Lynnette Marmolejos-Cepeda, Nicole Marmolejos-Cepeda, Miranda Muniz, Lexi Patterson, Billy Platt, Jacklyn Polisano, Andrea Rapetti, Samantha Riess, Ebba Rivera, Morganne Schrading, Julian Simon, Chloe Verderber, Annalise Wagner, Peyton Wagner and Victoria Williams.
