Galloway Senior Center March Update

As most of you know the new Galloway Township Senior Center, like other departments, was affected by the budget cuts which necessitated changes in the program. Over the last month I’ve been working with the new staff and I am happy to tell you that they are doing a great job in organizing and creating a new mailing list and filling in the calendar with activities and guest speakers, which will appeal to all seniors.
The staff of the center, Beth, Jennifer and Deb, is anxious to see the facility used more and to that end they are working on ways to inform the residents of the activities. That is why it is important for you to register with the center. There are many exciting things going on at the Galloway Senior Center and the best way to stay informed is to register! Call Debbie O’Hagan at 652-8657.

The one thing I found out in the six months I’ve been associated with the center is the number of organizations in town which are willing and anxious to help the Galloway seniors. The staff has already talked to and scheduled dates for the center with Stockton College, the Rotary Club, AARP and the county.

The center is also looking for groups that might want to use the facility for cards or book club meetings etc., and for anyone who would be.
interested in conducting a class of some sort. It could be a knitting or quilting class or something more involved like teaching people how to set-up and use a computer for e-mail. The center has wireless connection to the internet, four laptops and a work station. The work stations were built to accommodate wheelchairs.
