The Honor/Color Guard of VFW Post 9462 of Absecon Memorial Post is a unit that is dedicated to honoring the memories of our Veterans who have gone before us. We display the flag at national events and parades, and will teach flag etiquette when called upon. As an Honor guard, we perform at the family’s request, when able, casket watch and an honor firing at the cemetery. It is our firm belief that all who wore the uniform of our Armed Services should receive these military honors, and to this extent, we try to make this happen. We are strictly volunteers, none of us are paid, and we work during the weekdays. Our uniforms are from money we try to raise by ourselves. The time spent practicing is our personal time. We receive no assistance, as we are a unit within the Post, operating independently, but still representing Post 9462 and the VFW-at-Large. Our “thanks” is rendering honors for those who have passed, no matter the cause. They are Veterans – one of us – and it is our honor to honor them.
