Assumption Raises Money To Help Fight Cancer

Assumption Regional Catholic School students are joining in the fight against cancer by raising money by hosting a Relay Recess, walking the on school grounds on Friday, April 20th beginning at 12:00pm.

Assumption student’s Relay Recess is an abbreviated version of the American Cancer Society’s® national signature activity, Relay For Life®. The Relay Recess program is open to the community and provides cancer prevention and education information while raising funds for the American Cancer Society.

“It’s a great opportunity for the students to make an impact in the community as well as become knowledgeable about cancer” stated Mary Ellen Schurtz, Principal at Assumption Regional Catholic School. “Many of our students have been touched by cancer in some way. Therefore, our students feel good about themselves knowing they are doing something to help others,” added Schurtz.

Assumption’s Relay Recess event will provide an opportunity for students, teachers, families and members of the community to celebrate and remember loved ones touched by cancer.

The Relay Recess event will begin at 12:00pm and end at 8:00pm. The day highlights include:
Live remote from 12 – 2pm by local radio station
