The Absegami High School Forensics Team is off to a great start this season, winning fourth place at the competition held at Mainland High School on December 20th and winning second place at the Absegami High School tournament on January 10th.
Individual award winners at the Mainland competition included C. J. Coyle and Nicholas Hathaway, who won 1st place in Comedy Pairs, Isabelle Brown, who won 1st place in persuasive speaking and Saverio Turrano, who won 1st place in Prose Interpretation and 1st place in Improvisational Pairs with Michael Moore. Brown also won 2nd place in Impromptu Speaking as well as 3rd place in Improvisation Pairs with C. J. Coyle and 1st Place in After Dinner Speaking. Hathaway and Turrano also finished in 1st place in Musical Pairs. Other winners included Coyle who also won 3rd place in After Dinner Speaking, Juliet Melnik, who won 5th place in After Dinner Speaking, and Maggie Cohen, who won 5th place in Comedy Monologue.
Individual award winners at the Absegami competition included Kevin Gehringer, who won 1st place in After Dinner Speaking, Persuasive Speaking and 2nd place in Comedy Monologue and Nicholas Hathaway, who won 1st place in Musical Pairs with Saverio Turrano, 3rd place in Dramatic Duo with Isabelle Brown. Turrano also won 1st place in Prose Interpretation and Brown won 1st place in Comedy Monologue. Other award winners included Brady Bock and Zach Hassel, who won 5th place in Musical Pairs, C. J. Coyle, who won 3rd place in Impromptu Speaking, and Turrano & Michael Moore, who took 3rd place in Improvisational Pairs.
