Absegami FBLA and Interact Students Participate in 15th Annual MLK Day of Service

Over 50 students from Absegami High School’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and Interact Club participated in the 15th Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service at Stockton University’s Galloway campus on Monday.
After the opening session, students selected service projects and decided on the Circle K activities which included crafting bracelets and preparing care packages for Army veterans; designing pillows for childhood cancer patients; creating baby blankets; and making pet toys for dogs and cats.
Akshay Sheth, President of the Absegami HS Chapter of FBLA, has been participating in the Martin Luther King Day of Service for the past four years. Sheth said it is important to spread Dr. King’s message through acts of service on a daily basis. “It is important to not only volunteer on this one day out of the year, but also make volunteering a regular part of our daily lives,” he said. Sheth enjoys participating because it “helps strengthen our community and assists others in need,” he said.
The MLK Day of Service is held annually at Stockton University and at thousands of other locations throughout the country. Stockton’s event is coordinated by the Office of Service Learning.
